They represent my attempt to use the physical act of painting to disclose what was ignored and excused.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The China 2005-2007 paintings recall my brief stay in that country to study Chinese law. Framing them, I discovered an article of faith, a philosophy if art: the comedic or light-hearted need not undermine genuine beauty.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The Philadelphia page is just starting to fill. I picture Queen Anne&#8217;s lace and blue chicory flowers growing through sidewalks. Paulownia trees along rail lines and narrow row houses with marble stoops. Maybe Atlantic City. The broad silver Delaware and rowers on the Schuylkill. Christmas along Market Street and July Fourth on the Parkway.
